Only 1 in 3 seniors who qualify for SNAP participate

According to the The Montana Food Bank Network’s website:
Younger Man Consoling Older Man
“Seniors experiencing hunger are likely not getting the nutrition they need to stay healthy leading to a variety of health problems including lower cognitive functioning, an increased chance of being hospitalized, and a weakened immune system. SNAP (the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, formerly Food Stamps) is a greatly underutilized resource among seniors in need of food assistance. Historically, seniors have been the most under-served population nationwide. Just 1 in 3 seniors likely to qualify for SNAP participates in the program.”
